Description: A Conference, within the framework of the national celebrations for the 150 years celebrations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-International Telecommunication Union), will be held on Friday 2nd October 2015 in Nicosia Cyprus. The Conference will be held in the Filoxenia Conference Center and will have title: “Challenges for Cyprus: Digital Single Market and ICT Innovation”.

The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works (Department of Electronic Communications) and the European Commission and is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, who will address the conference. Mr Marios Demetriades, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, will also address the conference.

The Conference, which falls at the same time, under the initiative of the European Commission for visits to the Member States (Going Local), will deal with the challenges and opportunities presented to Cyprus in relation to the Digital Single Market and the innovations that can emerge from the Information and the Communication Technologies.

Key speakers of the Conference will be the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Mr. Houlin Zhao, and the Principal Adviser in DG CONNECT (Communication Networks, Content and Technology) of the European Commission, Ms. Megan Richards.

Also, speakers will be the Director of Electronic Communications, the Deputy Executive Director of Cyta, and representatives of the CCCI and Consumer associations.
