150 Years of the ITU – Commemorative event in Spain with special focus on the 1932 Plenipotentiary Conference

Description: The Spanish State Secretariat for Telecommunications and for the Information Society, which is a department of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, together with the Official College and Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers, hereby celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the International Telecommunications Union, emphasising the relevance of the 1932 Conference of Plenipotentiaries of the ITU.
This EVENT is held within the framework theme for the Global Day for Telecommunications and the Information Society which is “Telecommunications/ICT: Drivers of Innovation” and will be attended by the highest ranking authorities of this industry, as well as by the ITU General Secretary Mr. Zhao.
On 1932, The V Conference of Plenipotentiaries of the International Telegraph Union (ITU) was celebrated in Spain’s capital. The international treaties relative to telecommunications (telegraph, radio-communications and telephony industries) were brought together within a single covenant, which is known today as the ITU.
